凌姓系承康叔 源起河南渤海

华人有姓“凌”的人，也有姓“凌”的人，两个字的读音相同，字义也大同小异，只有写法上那么一点差别，如果不细加留意，很可能还有人根本就没有觉察到！

凌、凌二姓在实质上完全没有分别。关于这一点，《姓氏考略》上说明得最为清楚，该书指出：“三国时有凌统，广韵引作?，后多混用，康熙字典列入?字注，谓与凌别，凌姓遂多从?。”

由此可见，凌、?两姓的分道扬镳，完全是由于《广韵》一书一笔之误。他们本来应该是姓凌，后来经过《康熙字典》的一错再错，竟使得有些原来姓凌的人以讹传讹地就改姓为?，使华人增加了一个新的姓氏，也使人对凌、?两个姓氏，多多少少感到混淆不清。

根据历来各学者的考证，凌姓也是最为光彩的黄帝姬姓后裔。他们的始祖，是周武王的少弟康叔。关于凌姓的来源，许多古籍都有记载，譬如《姓纂》指出：“康叔支子为周凌人，子孙以官为氏”；《通志氏族略》上也指出：“卫康叔支子为周凌人，子孙以官为氏，吴志有凌统。”

从这些文献来看，凌氏是源自周文王的孙子，由于在周天子的朝廷上担任一种叫做“凌人”的官，所以才会“以官为氏”而姓了凌。所谓“凌人”，是当时的一种掌冰政之官，也就是《周礼》上所记载的：“凌人掌冰，正岁，十有二月，令斩冰，三其凌。”

头一个以凌为姓的人，是出身于周代初年周文王幼子所建的卫国。当时卫国的位置，是在今河北、河南一带，而凌姓的始祖既然是卫康叔的支子，则凌姓的发源之地和得姓的时间，也就可以轻易地推算得知了。

在早期历史上，凌氏似乎比较岑寂，一直到群雄并起热闹非凡的三国时期，在江左的东吴才有一位大将凌统，以赫赫军功而为这个家族扬眉吐气。他在江夏斩曹操的大将张硕，人船尽获，以及于赤壁之战时在乌林把曹阿瞒打得人仰马翻，落荒而逃。

依照《吴志》的记载，凌统是一位十分了不起的人物，他虽然官拜将军，身在军旅，却能亲贤接士，轻财重义，具有国士之风。孙权对于凌统的爱重，也无出其右。据说，当他身逝之后，孙权曾把其子凌烈接进宫去养育，待如己子，而且还时时人前人后的称呼凌烈为“此吾虎子也”。凌烈长大后也很争气，曾因建功而被封为长亭侯，使得江左凌氏的门第，一时高不可攀。
